If you’re in the food processing industry, you likely are one of the few people who appreciate the effort and work that is required to produce and ship all types of food to food stores around the country. The fact that foods have labels that outline the individual ingredients and amounts is a testament to the fact that industrial scales are incredibly important for any organization involved in food production.
Scales that are used in the food processing industry must stand up to all types of abuse including temperature fluctuations, spillage and overuse. Thankfully companies like Arlyn Scales, manufacture waterproof scales for the food processing industry that are built from the ground up to withstand the daily abuse that’s common with the handling of food products.
Why Trust the Scale Experts at Arlyn Scales?
If this is your first time purchasing an industrial scale you may be asking yourself, why should I trust the team at Arlyn Scales? The truth is that to answer this question, we have to give you a bit of background about our company.
Arlyn Scales was founded more than 30 years ago as a company whose primary focus was to develop the highest quality industrial scales for our growing number of customers. While the entire scale industry has changed quite a bit over the past few decades, at Arlyn Scales, our business model has stayed remarkably similar to what it was when we first started out in the business. We’re still headquartered in Long Island, New York where all of our scales are not only designed, but manufactured as well. We design and manufacture all of the sub-assemblies in our scales right here in our New York factory.
Because our design and manufacturing teams work side by side, we’ve never seen the need to invest in a complicated distributor network to sell our scales. Instead, we’ve focused on a factory direct business model where our customers purchase their scales directly from us, without any middlemen. This way, we can sell our scales for much less than some of our competitors who manufacture their scales overseas and must rely on a set of wholesalers and distributors.
By selling our scales factory direct, we’re able to not only pass on some of these savings to our customers but also to invest in ensuring that our scales all utilize the latest in scale technology. Our scales have features that are only found on competitive scales that cost as much as 3-5 times more.
Scale Features Food Processing Plants Will Appreciate
Many of our customers in the food industry have mentioned the following features as must-haves for our industrial scales.
Stainless Steel Load Cells
There’s no denying that the load cell is likely one of the most important components of any industrial scale. Because load cells are typically recessed under the scale platform, many scale manufacturers will manufacture them from inferior metals such as aluminum or cheaper steel. At Arlyn Scales, we utilize stainless steel load cells, which are able to handle exposure to liquids that are extremely common in the food industry. These rugged load cells are one of the reasons our waterproof scales are ideal for the food processing industry.
All Stainless Steel Scale Construction
While stainless steel load cells are important, at Arlyn Scales, we don’t just stop there when it comes to ensuring our scales can stand up to the extreme environments common in the food industry. We also offer our all stainless steel scales, that are some of the most durable scales on the market. Not only do these scales utilize our stainless steel load cells, but are also manufactured with stainless steel platforms as well.
Stainless steel is easy to clean and can be sterilized quickly if exposed to certain food ingredients. Additionally, stainless steel can also be exposed to both high and low temperatures, which are prevalent in the food production industry.
If customers need additional protection, we also offer an optional triple epoxy coating with garnet particles. This coating helps to protect scales from rust and corrosion. Most scale manufacturers will coat their scales with nothing more than enamel or powder coat paint, which is useless once any part of the scale becomes chipped or scratched.
Stainless Steel Housing for New Arlyn UpScale Touchscreen Indicator
One of our newest scale features is the Arlyn UpScale Touchscreen Indicator. This display indicator is unlike anything you’ve likely ever seen in the scale industry. Instead of a basic display indicator, this is a fully functional Android touchscreen display that’s designed especially for our industrial scales. Customers can control all aspects of their industrial scale from an easy to use touchscreen display.
If you’re in the food industry, the first thing you likely want to ask is whether this type of touchscreen device can stand up to the extreme environments found in the food industry? To protect our touchscreen indicator, we offer an optional stainless steel enclosure which will keep the device protected regardless of how extreme the environment.
