Whether you use wooden, plastic, metal, or recycled pallets, you’ll need to accurately weigh them and the containers they’re supporting. And while the weight of a pallet generally depends on its size and load bearing capacity, standard wooden pallets weigh between 30 and 70 lbs when empty. A standard 48” x 40” pallet will have a static load bearing capacity of 3 tons and a 1 ton dynamic. So when you need to accurately weigh these heavy items, you need a pallet scale that will perform.
Arlyn Floor and Pallet Scales
Our floor and pallet scales use best of class components including stainless steel load cells, advanced digital algorithms, and welded construction with a special zinc-rich epoxy coating for superior rust resistance.
Accurate and Durable Load Cells
Our 5200 series floor scales feature heavy duty, industrial grade load cells that we machine from heat treated stainless steel, rather than the aluminum or regular steel used by other manufacturers. Stainless steel means these load cells can reliably receive extremely high capacity loads without damage – even from overloading and shock loading – while maintaining accuracy levels much higher than load cells machined with other materials. Four of these rugged load cells are bolted into protection pockets within the scale’s frame to stabilize the scale and offer an extremely low platform less than 4 inches high.
And unlike other manufacturers that use a summation board to adjust the outputs of their load cells, we match ours before they’re installed. This means our scales are more accurate, easier to calibrate, and require no dealer set up or service. It also adds years of useful life to your scale because it eliminates the biggest cause of failure. Combined with our digital indicator which features advanced digital algorithms, the accuracy and precision characteristics of our scales are greatly enhanced.
Rust and Corrosion Resistance for Steel Scales
Other manufacturers often use an enamel-based paint and claim it protects the scale, but this material is easy to scratch and will flake away with repeated use. Once that “protection” is gone, the steel beneath becomes exposed and vulnerable to corrosive elements. Once that exposed surface rusts, it will spread to other areas of the scale, even underneath areas where the paint is still intact.
This is why we have developed our special zinc-rich epoxy coating, which protects the scale from abrasion and offers additional rust and corrosion resistance. While it’s inevitable that the surface of your scale will be scratched, the zinc in the epoxy causes preferential oxidation, which means that that corrosion won’t take hold in the exposed steel or migrate to other areas of the scale.
Rust and Corrosion Resistance for Stainless Steel Scales
While steel is suitable for many purposes, we often recommend stainless steel for applications that commonly deal with corrosive agents or work in wet and washdown environments.
Our stainless steel scales offer additional rust and corrosion resistance and can be purchased with an optional three-part epoxy coating infused with garnet, glass, and mica particles that protect the scale from scratches and other abrasions that cause metal to corrode faster.
Choice of Size and Capacity
While we do offer a 10,000 lb capacity 4 x 4 pallet scale, we also offer a host of other capacities and platform sizes to ensure that you’re able to find the scale you need. This includes:
Capacity & Resolution | Platform Sizes |
2,500 lb x 0.5 lb | 3’ x 3’ x 2.875” 4’ x 4’ x 2.875” |
5,000 lb x 1 lb | 3’ x 3’ x 2.875” 4’ x 4’ x 2.875” 4’ x 6’ x 2.875” 5’ x 5’ x 2.875” |
10,000 lb x 2 lb | 4’ x 4’ x 2.875” 5’ x 7’ x 4” 6’ x 8’ x 4” |
20,000 lb x 5 lb | 4’ x 4’ x 4” 5’ x 7’ x 4” 7’ x 9’ x 4” |
But because we’re a factory direct manufacturer, we can customize the dimensions of the platform to suit your pallets or space restrictions. We also offer other capacities. So if you need something more custom, we urge you to contact us and let us know exactly what you need.
Computer Compatibility
As a factory direct manufacturer, we also have the ability to equip your scale with your preferred communication port. We offer a variety of standard communication options including:
• USB (Universal Serial Bus), which enables you to import your scale’s data directly into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or an Access Database file on your PC when used in combination with our free USB Remote Software. You can also control the operation of your scale from a nearby PC. If you use a different Windows application, we offer a utility that will allow you to send weight data from your scale directly to that software.
• Wi-Fi, which allows you to wireless connect your scale to the Internet and upload scale data into an only system through your local network. This is a great advantage when the location or usage of your scale prohibits a wired connection. You can even monitor and control your scale remotely from any on-site or off-site location with a Wi-Fi connection.
• Ethernet, which supports a wired connection with your local network that allows you to monitor and control your scale from a workstation PC as well as record, sort, group and analyze your data on a workstation PC.
• RS-232, which is a standard communications protocol that allows you to transmit your data from your scale to another computerized device. Our scales’ operating software includes a print frame definition editor that allows for customized outputs like complex printed labels, which makes it easy to attach weight and content information to your pallets.
