While someone’s ability to get on an amusement park ride is generally based on height, there are quite a few instances where this will depend upon their weight. If you have zip lines, slingshots, horseback riding, bungee jumping, or rock climbing walls, you need a reliable scale that can quickly weigh guests and get them on the ride. Often, the equipment you use (i.e.: bungee cords) must be matched to the individual guest by their weight. The safety of your guests may also depend on them falling within a specific weight range, which means they cannot be either too light or too heavy.
Arlyn Platform Scales
Our Series 3200 Platform Scales are the perfect choice for amusement parks. Available in either 500 or 1,000 pound capacities, they come in a variety of platform sizes to ensure that the scale takes up as little space as possible. With an internal resolution of 1 part in 500,000, these scales can accurately read to 0.1 or 0.2 pounds respectively. A platform height of less than two inches makes it easy for guests of all ages to step on and off the scale.
Rather than the industry standard aluminum or steel, we manufacture our load cells out of stainless steel. This increases their accuracy and their durability, which means you’ll have a scale that can stand up to constant activity and provide you with years of trouble free use. The welded aluminum frame increases the scale’s durability without increasing its price. This also means that the scale can easily become a portable model that requires little effort to move.
Outdoor / Waterpark / Wet Environments
If your scale will be outdoors, located near a waterpark or any other kind of wet or wash down environment, you may want to consider ordering a scale with full stainless steel construction. Stainless steel will help prevent rust and corrosion and ensure that your scale is rugged, durable and accurate regardless of the weather or nearby rides.
Digital Indicator
Featuring an intuitive, graphic interface, operating a scale has never been simpler. Water resistant and easy to see, our full function keypad enables alphanumeric data input and clearly displays accurate weight values.
Acceptance Weights
If you have minimum and maximum weight limits for a particular ride, order your scale with our setpoint option. Let’s say guests must weigh more than 50 but less than 270 pounds. You can program these acceptance weights into the controller using the digital indicator. You can also make the weighing process more fun by connecting the controller to a light system that flashes or a sound system that goes off when your guests’ weight is “just right.”
Privacy
If you’d like to ensure that your guests feel comfortable getting on the scale, you can mount the digital indicator’s stainless steel swivel bracket to face away from guests so that only the person operating the ride can see their weight.
Test Seats
A growing trend within the amusement park industry, test seats allow guests to see whether they’ll fit on a ride or if they can use safety restraints comfortably before they stand in line. If you have a ride with a weight component and want to incorporate a scale into your test seat, ask us about our OEM services. Since we’re a factory direct company, we can design and manufacture custom weighing solutions just like this. This way guests can privately determine whether they’re able to get on a ride without feeling embarrassed.
Keeping Records
If you need to keep records of guest weights for liability purposes, we offer a variety of communication options that you can use to transfer and store this data. Common choices are USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, the Cloud, RS-232 and datalogging with a flash drive.
