To survive in the industrial scale industry, companies must constantly be innovating to sufficiently meet the needs of their clients. This includes utilizing the latest in technology to provide a smooth user interface, while also implementing a wide array of features that are useful for a large range of clients.
At Arlyn Scales, we’ve been manufacturing scales for over 35 years and feel confident that we’re able to offer a wide range of industrial scales that meet the needs of today’s technologically driven enterprises.
The Secret to Arlyn Scales’ Success
Arlyn Scales has been able to stay at the forefront of the industrial scale industry for a variety of reasons. Being in the business for so long has given us enough experience to spot industry trends and respond accordingly. We also take a much different approach to the design and manufacturing of our scales than many of our competitors.
While many scale manufacturers may design their products in-house, they will likely outsource the manufacturing process to overseas firms. The problem with this approach is that it can be very difficult to have robust quality control processes in place when your design and manufacturing operations are completely separate. This is one of the primary reasons why both our design and manufacturing teams are located in the U.S. In fact, we have a factory in Long Island, New York where all of our scales, along with the majority of their components are designed and manufactured. This factory sits directly beside our design offices so that all of our team members can work together to produce the most advanced scale possible.
By manufacturing all of our scales in-house we’re able to offer lower priced scales that still feature the latest in cutting-edge technology. Our factory direct approach allows our design and engineering teams to keep a tight eye on every facet of the manufacturing process to ensure your scale meets, if not exceeds your industrial weighing needs.
Need for Updated User Interface for Ease of Use
At Arlyn Scales, one of the questions that we are most often asked is, “Why can’t my scale operate like my smartphone?” Clients have become spoiled by their dazzling touchscreens offering multi-color displays and a layout that isn’t cluttered like some of the traditional scale displays on the market. After hearing this question over and over, we decided to see what it would take to power our scales with an Android based tablet-like device. We’ve been literally blown away with the popularity of this feature and we’re excited to tell you more about how it works.
Scales Powered With Android Software
While we’ve offered user-friendly digital indicators for a number of years, we’ve recently begun to use Android powered devices to control some of our industrial scales. These models use a large 7” color touchscreen that features the familiar Android operating system that powers millions of smartphones and tablets around the world. The default display features large 1” block digits, which are easy to read, even in poor lighting conditions, and from a distance. Users can choose a variety of weight units including pounds, grams, kilos, troy, and ounces, among others.
The buttons on the Android display closely correlate to the chosen mode for the scale. When the user selects a certain menu function, they’re able to “swipe” through the menu screens. A numeric keypad and full keyboard will pop up when needed and disappear when not in use. If you’ve ever used a smartphone or tablet, you’ll quickly get used to the robust user interface.
Additional Features That Set Our Scales Apart from the Competition
Arlyn Scales understands that you not only want to utilize the latest technology when it comes to your scale, but you also want to be able to access and analyze all of the valuable weight data in your business. Gone are the days where scale operators would have to manually record weight values, which was fraught with significant human error.
- Connectivity Options
Arlyn Scales now offers a variety of connectivity options that allow you to instantly have access to weight values directly from your scale. Our most popular connectivity methods include:
- USB – Simply connect your computer to your industrial scale with a USB cable and you’ll be able to access all of your weight data as well as control your scale. Using our free USB Remote Software, clients can easily send their data to a MS Excel spreadsheet or MS Access database. We also offer an additional program that can allow you to send weight data directly to any Windows application.
- Ethernet / Wi-Fi – Aside from USB we also offer full support for Ethernet & Wi-Fi connections. With these connections, you can either control your scale within your local network or control it from anywhere in the world, as long as you have a reliable Internet connection.
- Datalogging – If your scale is in an area that is hard to access with a computer, you can always use our datalogging function to download weight data directly to a USB drive for later retrieval.
- A Variety of Scale Options
We offer our clients the option of scales featuring standard strain gage technology or our patented Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology, which provides unparalleled capacity and resolution at a price that is comparable to many strain gage scales.
Previously, buyers either had to choose between a scale with higher capacity and a lower resolution, or vice versa. Now thanks to Arlyn Scales SAW technology, clients no longer have to choose.
